Your Optometrist

At CLS, we believe in a multidisciplinary approach to your eye care. We will work with your Optometrist, your family eye doctor, in providing you with the most thorough preoperative and postoperative Laser surgery care. Your optometrist will help increase the success of your eye surgery because he/she:

• Has your best interest in mind.
• Will give us detailed history of your vision prescription and eye health.
• Will help determine if you are an ideal candidate for laser surgery based on his/her knowledge of your eye history, of how well you tolerated glasses or contact lenses, of your profession and lifestyle, and of your personality.
• Will do a series of preoperative testing and share them with us in order to assure good candidacy.
• Will help monitor your visual and health recovery after surgery cautiously to ensure proper healing and stability of vision.
  

Your family eye care doctor is in a great position to offer you guidance because he/she:

• Can give you an unbiased point of view of your candidacy.
• Can give you an objective assessment of the quality of surgery provided at different centers.
• Does not perform Laser surgery, so has not vested interest in where you have surgery.
• Has experience in the preoperative and postoperative care.
