Questions to Ask any Surgeon or Center you are considering:

  1. How many laser refractive surgeries has your specific surgeon performed?
  2. How many complications has the surgeon had?
  3. Can the specific complications be described?
  4. Can the center give you specific statistics on your prescription?
  5. Is the surgeon fellowship trained in cornea and external eye disease, essentially a Corneal Specialist?
  6. Does the facility have an Orbscan, an Infrared Pupillometer, a Wavefront Aberrometer?
  7. Is or has the surgeon or facility been involved in FDA studies?
  8. Is your surgeon available to you 24 hours a day and seven days a week?
  9. Does the center or surgeon provide a lifetime enhancement program?
  10. Does the surgeon offer other options for patients who don’t qualify for laser surgery?
  11. If Clear lensectomy is offered, is it performed in his or her Medicare certified and state licensed ambulatory surgery center?
  12. Is your surgeon directly affiliated with a practice that provides a full subspecialty. scope of eyecare (retina, cornea, glaucoma)?
  13. Does the Laser have an eye tracker?
  14. Does the Laser have the ability to treat larger zones to decrease the night glare risk factor?
  15. Does the center offer Wavefront Lasik?
  16. Is the Laser room environmentally controlled in regards to temperature and humidity?
  17. Is the consultation complimentary?
  18. Will the primary consultation be performed by an eye doctor?
  19. Is the center a dedicated Laser center?
  20. Does the center offer financing options?
