Dr.
Pardos received his medical degree from Yale University School
of Medicine in New Haven, Ct. He received his residency training at Washington
University
Medical School in St. Louis, MO. After completing his residency
in ophthalmology, Dr. Pardos took an additional year of advanced study,
a fellowship, to
specialize in the diseases and surgery of the cornea, at the
University of Iowa in Iowa City. There he learned to perform various corneal
surgeries
including corneal transplants. Upon completing his fellowship,
Dr. Pardos became an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Mt. Sinai
School
of Medicine in N.Y.C.. There he taught residents and performed
corneal transplant surgery. While in N.Y., Dr. Pardos was also the medical
director
of New York City's largest eye bank, assistant clinical professor
at the State University of New York School of Optometry and was part of
the first
nationally sponsored study on refractive surgery, the PERK
study. In 1982, Dr. Pardos moved his family to Denver, Colorado, becoming
head of the "Denver
Clinic's" dept. of ophthalmology. He subsequently opened up Omni
Eye Specialists, P.C., along with Dr. Robert Prouty, in 1986.
In 1996, when the FDA first approved the excimer laser, Dr. Pardos was
one of the
first physicians in Colorado to perform refractive laser surgery.
Dr. Pardos has been extensively published in many ophthalmological journals.
Dr. Pardos has done research on corneal cell regeneration.
Dr. Pardos was one of the first ophthalmologists in Denver
to perform refractive
surgery in the early 80's. He was the first ophthalmologist
to perform out patient cataract surgery in metropolitan Denver. This
first
out patient
cataract surgery in Denver, was featured in the Denver Post.
In a 1992 survey in "Health Styles of Denver," Dr. Pardos was named "one of
the five best ophthalmologists" in Denver. Dr. Pardos established
Colorado Laser Surgeons to offer a dedicated refractive practice to help
serve those
patients seeking quality and experience all under one roof. Dr.
Pardos performs numerous nearsighted (myopia) correcting operations such
as PRK (photo refractive
keratectomy) and LASIK (laser assisted in situ keratomileusis).
Dr. Pardos has been name a VISX STAR for his outstanding achievement in
laser vision
correction. Dr. Pardos donates his time for humanitarian surgical
missions to third world countries, mostly in Western Africa through the
Christian
Eye Ministry. Dr. Pardos is a private pilot with a multi engine
IFR license. He enjoys shot gun sports, skiing, scuba diving, and camping.
He is an avid
motorcycle enthusiast, collects and rides Harleys. He owns many
vintage Harley Davidsons.
